India’s pandemic preparedness supports implement robust strategy to manage Mpox outbreak

India's healthcare system has implemented a robust strategy to manage potential Mpox outbreaks, featuring 35 equipped laboratories and enhanced surveillance measures from the National Centre for Disease Control. This proactive approach includes public awareness campaigns and isolation facilities.

The head of medical operations at MediBuddy highlights that India's readiness and accurate strain identification enable effective management of potential cases. Health officials assess the risk of a large-scale outbreak as low, thanks to the ability to distinguish between viral strains like 'clade 1' and 'clade 2.'

Learning from the COVID-19 pandemic, India has established specialized laboratories for rapid testing and local response. Preparedness has improved globally, with expanded testing capabilities and enhanced surveillance.

Public health strategies now emphasize education and hygiene, advising individuals to seek medical attention if symptomatic, particularly those with underlying conditions. Vulnerable groups must stay in close contact with healthcare providers, while travelers with exposure history should quarantine for 21 days to prevent spreading the virus.
