Spread’Em Kitchen Ltd. is recalling its Spread’Em brand Beet & Balsamic Cashew Dip due to mold contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that this product was distributed in British Columbia, Canada.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), mold in food can pose significant health risks. Some molds can cause allergic reactions and respiratory issues, while others may produce mycotoxins—harmful substances that can lead to illness. Mold can penetrate deeply into foods, particularly those with high moisture content, making it unsafe to simply cut away the visible mold. The USDA advises discarding moldy items, especially soft fruits, vegetables, and meats, to avoid health risks.
