The Indian Chest Society introduces special booklet on cough management

The Indian Chest Society (ICS) has released a booklet titled "Guidelines For Cough Management in India," focusing on comprehensive cough management. This initiative, supported by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, addresses the critical concern of respiratory health.

The booklet highlights the prevalence and causes of cough, offering insights into its diagnosis and management. It includes dedicated sections on managing dry and wet cough, red flags, referral guidelines, and the relevance and critique of fixed-dose combinations (FDCs), including banned FDCs in India.

To aid clinical decision-making, the booklet recommends alternatives to codeine-based combinations for dry cough and suggests appropriate Beta-2 receptor agonists for wet cough.

This resource aims to enhance patient care and outcomes in cough management and will soon be available on the ICS website.
