FDA warns against certain frozen oysters due to risk of norovirus contamination

The FDA advises against consuming and instructs restaurants and food retailers to cease serving or selling Lots B231126, B240103, and B240214 of frozen, raw, half-shell oysters processed by JBR (KR 15 SP) in Tongyeongsi, Republic of Korea on Nov. 27, 2023, Jan. 4, 2024, and Feb. 15, 2024, respectively, and shipped to California distributors due to potential norovirus contamination.

JJBR (KR-15-SP) Tongyeong, Republic of Korea, is recalling frozen half-shell oysters with lot number B231227 due to possible norovirus contamination. Harvested on Dec. 27, 2023, from ROK Designated Area No. 1, processed by JBR (KR-15-SP) on Dec. 28, 2023, with lot number B231227, distributed by Khee Trading, Inc. (Compton, CA), and may have been further distributed to various locations in other states.

JC Foods Inc., of Salt Lake City, UT, initiated a voluntary recall on May 15, 2024, of frozen half-shell oysters, lot number B231227, distributed to their retail customers in Utah.
