Abbott and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) are collaborating on the Innovation Incubator initiative to improve access to nutritious foods and healthcare. Eight community health centers have been selected to receive funding, guidance, and training to develop and test innovative solutions addressing nutrition and care in their communities.
In the US, 12.8% of households face food insecurity, impacting health conditions like obesity and diabetes. The Incubator aims to integrate nutrition into clinical care to combat these issues, irrespective of patients' locations or financial situations.
Community health centers, pivotal in addressing health disparities, play a crucial role. The initiative supports centers in designing sustainable solutions tailored to their populations, promoting health equity nationwide.
Selected centers include Affinia Healthcare, Asian Health Services, and others across the US. Each will receive $30,000 for a six-month project phase, with potential for additional awards. Results will be shared with 1,400 health centers, benefiting over 31 million patients.
