Spinach and spinach products recalled after testing finds Listeria monocytogenes contamination

Solata Foods LLC of Newburgh, NY, recalled its "Fresh Spinach" because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected brands include Solata, Gaia, Full Circle, Farmer Direct, Uncle Vinny’s, Bogopa, and Bulk.

The contamination was identified through sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspectors, followed by analysis from Food Laboratory personnel, which detected Listeria monocytogenes in a 9-ounce package of Bogopa "Fresh Spinach." Production has been halted.

The recalled "Fresh Spinach" was distributed locally in retail stores and comes in various sizes under all brand names listed. All packages have lot numbers #40606 and 11006 with expiration dates of 6/20/24 and 6/24/24. The product UPC codes are provided below.

Listeria-contaminated food may appear normal but can cause severe and potentially fatal infections. Anyone who has consumed the recalled products and shows symptoms of Listeria infection should seek medical attention and inform their doctors about potential Listeria exposure.
