Yellowfin Tuna recalled in California due to high histamine levels

Fresh Catch Inc of Los Angeles, CA, is recalling specific Yellowfin Tuna products due to elevated histamine levels.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall began on June 12, 2024, and is still ongoing. The affected product was distributed within California.

High histamine levels can cause an allergic reaction known as histamine fish poisoning or scombroid fish poisoning. Symptoms typically appear within minutes to an hour after consumption and include a tingling or burning sensation in the mouth, facial swelling, rash, hives, itchy skin, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. These symptoms generally resolve within several hours without medical intervention, but severe cases may require treatment with antihistamines.
