Smoked salmon sold at Kroger and Payless stores recalled due to Listeria

Foppen Seafood is recalling certain smoked salmon products after testing detected Listeria monocytogenes in lot number 412. The affected smoked salmon, branded as Foppen Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices – Toast-sized (UPC: 8 40137 10000 2, Package Size: 8.1 oz), was distributed to Kroger and Payless Supermarkets across 15 states: AL, AR, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, OH, SC, TN, TX, and WV.

Consumers can identify the recalled product by checking for lot number 412 in the clear plastic window on the front of the package. They are advised to discard the product or return it to the store for a full refund.

Consumers who have consumed the recalled smoked salmon should monitor themselves for symptoms of listeriosis, as symptoms can appear up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria.
