Noah Medical, based in the US, has published promising results from a clinical study on its Galaxy surgical robotic system in the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology journal. The study, known as FRONTIER, involved 18 patients with moderate-risk peripheral pulmonary nodules in Sydney, Australia. It demonstrated the Galaxy system's capability for precise navigation and tool placement accuracy, achieving 100% success in both aspects during bronchoscopy procedures.
The Galaxy system integrates TiLT+ technology with tomosynthesis and augmented fluoroscopy, enhancing accuracy in locating and diagnosing lung nodules. Its compact design is tailored for small bronchoscopy suites, featuring a disposable bronchoscope to streamline procedures.
Noah Medical received FDA clearance for the Galaxy system in March 2023 and secured $150 million in Series B funding led by Softbank Vision Fund and Prosperity7 Ventures. Commercial use began in May 2023, coinciding with optimistic projections that the surgical robotics market will grow to $10.3 billion by 2030, as reported by GlobalData's Medical Intelligence Center.
