Probable under-processing leads to recall of non-alcoholic drink mixes

Urban River Spirits, LLC is recalling Urban Spirits non-alcoholic drink mixes because they were produced in an unlicensed and uninspected facility, potentially under-processed and at risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination. The recall follows the Oregon Department of Agriculture's shelf stability testing requirements.

Botulism poisoning is a severe risk associated with under-processed food, causing muscle paralysis that can impair breathing and lead to death if untreated. Symptoms, including double vision, difficulty swallowing, and muscle weakness, typically appear within 6 hours to 10 days after consuming contaminated food, according to the CDC.

The recalled products, packaged in 750 mL glass bottles, have not been linked to any reported illnesses to date. Consumers who purchased these products on or before July 2, 2024, should return them for a full refund or dispose of them.
