Illinois Company recalls tahini following testing shows contamination with Salmonella

AB World Foods US Inc. of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, is voluntarily recalling Al’Fez Natural Tahini in 5.6-ounce glass jars due to potential contamination with Salmonella. The affected product, distributed nationwide starting May 26, 2023, is identified by UPC 711464506778 and "BEST BEFORE" dates from "2024 JL 11" onwards. Specific lot numbers being recalled include 3031, 3080, 3270, and 3297, with corresponding "BEST BEFORE" dates of "2024 JL 31," "2024 SE 09," "2025 MR 27," and "2025 AL 04," located on the back of the jars.

As of now, AB World Foods US Inc. has not received any reports of illness associated with the recalled product in the United States. The recall was initiated following company testing that detected Salmonella presence, prompting distribution cessation as investigations continue.

Consumers in possession of Al’Fez Natural Tahini with the identified lot codes are urged to stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
