Queso fresco cheese recalled in Texas following Listeria found in product

Productos La Hacienda LLC is recalling Queso Rico La Hacienda brand queso fresco cheese due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall applies specifically to products labeled with an expiration date of 6/2/24, based on testing results.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the recall was initiated on June 3, 2024, and is ongoing. The affected cheese was distributed to 80 retail stores across Cameron County, Hidalgo County, and Starr County in Texas' Rio Grande Valley.

The recalled queso fresco cheese is sold in 9 oz, 1 pound, and 2 pound plastic packages under the Queso Rico La Hacienda brand. Product labeling includes various details and contact information.

Consumers and retailers are urged to discontinue use of the recalled product immediately. It should be either disposed of safely or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
