Wiers Farm recalls cucumbers distributed to Walmart stores due to Listeria

Wiers Farm Inc., based in Willard, OH, is voluntarily recalling whole cucumbers and bagged salad cucumbers with pack dates of June 5 and June 6 due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. These cucumbers were distributed to Walmart stores in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

The cucumbers, sourced from an unnamed out-of-state supplier, were handled and distributed by Wiers Farm. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development identified the contamination during routine sampling. No illnesses or customer complaints have been reported.

The recalled products include whole cucumbers (1.5 to 2.5 inches in diameter and 6 to 9 inches long) and salad cucumbers in 2-pound clear plastic bags. Consumers should discard any affected cucumbers, as the product is past its shelf life.
