Moong Dal recalled due to Salmonella contamination

Thal Golden Spices Inc. of Hayward, CA is recalling 640 packs of Bikano Moong Dal due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall was initiated after an FDA inspection revealed that the product had been distributed without proper lab results and identified discrepancies in batch numbers that were supposed to be destroyed.

The affected product was distributed in California retail stores. Salmonella contamination is not always visible, smellable, or tasteable, but it can cause illness. Infants, children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk for serious illness.

No illnesses have been reported as of this recall notice. Consumers should return the affected product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
