Minneapolis company recalls guacamole following testing shows Listeria contamination

Metro Produce Distributors Inc. of Minneapolis is recalling Lunds & Byerlys fresh guacamole products with a use-by date of August 2, 2024, due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recall affects guacamole sold at Lunds & Byerlys stores in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, and at "Taco Mas" food bars from July 27-31. The products, packaged in clear plastic containers, have not been linked to any illnesses yet. The recall was prompted by routine testing that indicated possible contamination.

Production and distribution have been halted while the company investigates, in coordination with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
