CVS and H-E-B infant formula recalled due to excess Vitamin D levels

Perrigo Company plc is recalling 16,500 cans of store brand Premium Infant Formula with Iron Milk-Based Powder due to Vitamin D levels exceeding the allowed limit. The issue was discovered during routine testing. The affected product was distributed to H-E-B Grocery Company, LP in Texas and CVS stores in several states, including Texas, Florida, California, and others. Perrigo has promptly informed H-E-B and CVS, requesting them to inspect and isolate the affected inventory. This voluntary recall is being conducted in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While most infants are unlikely to experience any health issues from short-term consumption, there is a potential risk for those with certain vulnerabilities, such as impaired renal function. Parents and caregivers should check for specific lot codes and “use by” dates on the packaging and consult their healthcare provider if concerned. No adverse events have been reported so far.
