Salmonella found during tests trigger recall of Shredded coconut in Canada.

Dong Phuong Distributor is recalling Hải Yến Ocean Swallow Frozen Shredded Young Coconut due to potential Salmonella contamination, following Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) tests. These products were sold in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, Canada. Salmonella-contaminated food often appears normal, but can cause illness. The CDC highlights that infants, children, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of severe illness. Anyone who consumed the recalled product and shows symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical care. It's important to inform doctors about possible Salmonella exposure for accurate diagnosis, as its symptoms can mimic other illnesses. To date, no illnesses were linked to this product. The CFIA's ongoing investigation may result in further recalls. Recalled products should not be consumed, sold, or distributed. Symptoms of Salmonella include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours of consumption. Most healthy adults recover within a week, but severe cases may require hospitalization. Some individuals may carry and spread the infection without showing symptoms.
