Kimchi recalled due to high levels of yeast

JFC International Inc. has issued a recall for certain J-Basket Brand Napa Kimchi due to excessive yeast growth and a film forming on the top of the product. The recall, initiated on August 1, 2024, is currently ongoing, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The affected products were distributed in states including Washington, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, New York, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, and Hawaii. The recall covers 14.1 oz. jars of J-Basket Napa Kimchi, with 12 jars per case. A total of 2,735 cases are impacted, with best-before dates of 10/26/24 and 12/19/24, and a UPC code of 0 11152 83000 1.

Consumers and retailers are advised to avoid using the product and either discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
