McDonald's India (West & South), operated by Westlife Foodworld, has collaborated with CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) to introduce a new multi-millet bun. This partnership, unveiled during National Nutrition Week, combines CFTRI’s expertise with McDonald’s focus on nutritious food.
The innovative bun incorporates five nutrient-rich millets—Bajra, Ragi, Jowar, Proso, and Kodo. Sourced from various regions across India, these millets enhance the bun’s nutritional profile with essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber.
CFTRI’s role was key in blending the millets' benefits while maintaining McDonald’s standards for taste and quality. The bun represents a significant step in merging traditional ingredients with modern food science. This collaboration aims to explore new nutritional innovations, creating menu items that are both healthy and appealing to evolving consumer preferences.
