Nicomex Inc. has issued a recall for Nicomex Tequesquite (Mexican mineral salt) due to elevated levels of lead. The recall, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on February 15, 2024, remains ongoing.
The affected products were initially distributed in New Jersey and subsequently further distributed to retail stores in New Jersey and New York.
Details of the recalled product are as follows:
Consumers are advised not to use this product and should either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.
Exposure to even low levels of lead over a short period may not manifest any symptoms immediately. However, increased blood lead levels could be the primary indicator of lead exposure. Additional signs and symptoms of lead exposure are more likely to occur with acute exposure to higher levels of lead or chronic exposure.
