Fistula, Piles, and fissures on the rise in adults aged between 25 and 55: Experts

Experts report a rise in piles, fistula, and fissures among adults due to sedentary lifestyles, unhealthy diets, and lack of exercise. They recommend a balanced diet, regular exercise, high-fiber foods, adequate hydration, quitting smoking and alcohol, and avoiding straining during bowel movements.

Piles occur when veins around the anus swell, affecting adults aged 25 to 55 due to obesity, pregnancy, low-fiber diets, and heavy lifting. Symptoms include itching, bleeding, and lumps near the anus. Fistulas, abnormal connections near the anus, result from injury or infection, causing pain, swelling, and skin irritation. Anal fissures, tears in the anal lining, are caused by constipation and straining, leading to bleeding and pain.

In recent months, over 130 patients have sought treatment for these conditions, with a significant rise among younger individuals due to junk food consumption. Effective management includes medications, creams, sitz baths, and, in severe cases, minimally invasive surgery.
