The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert regarding ready-to-eat meat and poultry products unlawfully imported from the Philippines. During routine surveillance at a retailer, FSIS discovered these products, which are not allowed for export to the U.S. from the Philippines.
The Philippines lacks authorization to export meat and poultry products to the United States, prompting ongoing investigations into how these items entered the country. FSIS is concerned that these products may be present in homes, restaurants, and retail stores across Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The public health alert covers:
- "Argentina BRAND CORNED BEEF" in 150g, 175g, and 260g cans
- "PUREFOODS CORNED BEEF" in 150g and 210g cans
- "CHUNKEE CORNED BEEF" in 150g and 190g cans
- "Lady’s Choice Chicken Spread" in a 7.43-oz jar
These products lack establishment information. As of now, no illnesses linked to these products have been confirmed. Consumers and retailers are urged not to consume or sell these products and to discard them safely.
