A young man born without limbs due to his mother's pesticide exposure in agricultural fields underscores the serious health risks faced by U.S. farmworkers. Carlos Candelario's condition resulted from his mother's exposure to harmful pesticides while working on a farm. Investigations revealed that Ag-Mart used several pesticides known to cause birth defects without informing workers of the risks. Despite existing regulations, many farmworkers still face pesticide exposure, often unreported due to fear of retaliation or lack of awareness. This highlights the need for stronger regulations and enforcement to protect farmworkers and their families from severe health issues and preventable harm.
