Researchers find heavy metals in dark chocolate

New research has found heavy metals like lead and cadmium in dark chocolate, but experts believe moderate consumption is generally safe. The study showed that 43% of dark chocolate products had lead levels exceeding California’s Proposition 65 limits, and 35% surpassed cadmium limits. Organic chocolates had higher concentrations, yet average consumers are unlikely to face immediate health risks. Pregnant women and young children should be cautious due to their heightened sensitivity to heavy metals. While the presence of these metals doesn't necessarily lead to immediate health issues, it’s advisable for chocolate lovers to choose brands with low heavy metal content and transparency about testing. Moderation and awareness remain important.
