UK cities to follow Paris in ban on pesticides

UK activists and local councils are pushing for a ban on pesticides in urban areas, inspired by Paris, which has been pesticide-free for seven years. The Pesticide Action Network (PAN) points out that Paris has successfully maintained its beauty without using pesticides, even during the Olympics.

Over 150 UK councillors and 15,000 citizens are backing a movement to ban urban pesticides to safeguard health and wildlife. Although there is no nationwide ban, 100 UK councils have already reduced pesticide use, with 50 of them going completely pesticide-free.

"Most people are unaware that harmful chemicals are sprayed in the areas where they, their children, and pets live, work, and play," PAN emphasizes. Banning pesticides in cities could prevent exposure to these harmful chemicals, protecting both public health and the environment. Paris has proven that cities can remain vibrant and green without relying on toxic substances.
