General Mills Canada Co. is recalling Kirkland Signature brand Greek Yogurt (24 pack) due to mold contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reports that these products were distributed across several provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
Mold in food can pose significant health risks. The USDA indicates that some molds can trigger allergic reactions and respiratory issues, while others may produce mycotoxins that lead to illness. Mold can penetrate deeply into high-moisture foods, making it unsafe to simply remove the visible mold. The USDA advises discarding moldy items, especially soft fruits, vegetables, and meats, to prevent health hazards.
