USAID and Takeda introduce dengue prevention campaign to help public safeguard from vector-borne diseases

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Takeda Biopharmaceuticals, formerly Baxalta Bioscience India, have launched the "Haarega Dengue Haraenge Hum" (We Will Together Defeat Dengue) campaign. Announced during the "Call to Action for Climate Sensitive Infectious Diseases" event, organized by CHRI under the USAID-supported Sustainable Action for Climate and Health (SACH) Initiative, the campaign aims to educate communities and school children in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh about dengue prevention.

The campaign addresses the rising prevalence of vector-borne diseases due to climate change, which increases temperatures and rainfall, adding pressure to health systems already strained by the pandemic. It seeks to improve understanding of how climate change impacts disease spread and offers strategies for better preparedness and stronger health systems. As 2024 is promoted as the ‘Year of Climate and Health Action,’ the partnership emphasizes innovative approaches to tackling climate-sensitive diseases.
