The recent climate summit COP 28 showed a major segue to address the issue of fossil fuel based energy ecosystem. Renewable energy has consistently been entering the mainstream energy consumption and production infrastructure. To support and channel this development, IGMPI is providing a post graduate diploma course in renewable energy for management and administration professionals as well as committed early stage professionals.
Renewable energy is going to be the major driver of the 17 SDGs and will find wide applicability in agriculture, transport and the economy. The track for this course would involve administration of lectures and interactive case studies to equip the student with a toolbox to handle industrial projects and lead lasting changes in organizational workflow.
Currently, in India, the installed capacity for renewables are wind power, solar power, biomass, small hydro power, waste to energy and large hydro projects. The growth drivers for renewable energy in India are government commitments, proposed solar cities and parks, national green hydrogen mission, off-shore wind energy and the wind-solar hybrid policy.
Through this course, the student will be able to scope the current status of renewable energy projects in India. The avenues or vistas for the sub-sectors will be explored for the global landscape and best practices case studies. After the course, the student will be able to navigate required legislature and safety protocols around a state or national level renewable energy project.
Apart from the theoretical methodologies to assess climate change, steps for mitigation and preparing disaster management teams for preparedness in handling a calamity, students will also be trained to assess on-site situations and lead grid optimization and scouting measures for carbon offsetting. A systems thinking approach will be taken to familiarize the student with energy transitions. Apart from this, a comprehensive study will be undertaken for carbon management.
