DGFT Launches Initiative to Streamline Pharma Export Compliance

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has launched a time-bound exercise to collect detailed information on mandatory and voluntary Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) affecting Indian pharmaceutical exports. This includes certifications, testing requirements, inspections, audits, labelling norms, and other regulatory compliance conditions, forming part of the Export Promotion Mission announced in the Union Budget 2025–26.

Pharma exporters, industry associations, and Pharmexcil have been asked to provide inputs on NTMs, including type, sector, cost, validity, applicable countries, recognised certifying bodies, and other compliance challenges, within seven days. Data collected will feed the government’s Support for Export Quality and Technical Compliance programme, aimed at helping Indian pharma products meet global standards.

Separately, DGFT has updated eligibility criteria for its “Source from India” Trade Connect platform, allowing exporters with a minimum USD 100,000 export realisation in any of the past three years to create microsites, using the enhanced eBRC system for verification.
