Course Overview

The Post Graduate Diploma in Ayurvedic Therapies aims to provide advanced knowledge and hands-on training in Ayurvedic therapeutic practices, with a special focus on Panchakarma, external therapies, dietetics, and lifestyle management. The course equips students with the ability to integrate classical Ayurvedic principles with modern wellness and clinical practices, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based applications of therapies.

Programme Structure:

Module 1: Foundations of Ayurveda and Therapeutic Principles

  • Introduction to Ayurveda – philosophy, objectives, and scope
  • Concepts of Tridosha, Dhatu, Mala, Agni, Ama, and Srotas
  • Prakriti and Vikriti – theory and clinical importance
  • Ayurvedic diagnostic methods – Nadi Pariksha, Darshana, Sparshana, Prashna

Module 2: Principles and Practice of Panchakarma

  • Introduction, classification, and importance of Panchakarma
  • Poorva Karma – Snehana, Swedana (internal & external oleation, fomentation)
  • Pradhana Karma – Vamana (therapeutic emesis),Virechana (therapeutic purgation),Basti (medicated enema),Nasya (nasal therapy)
  • Paschat Karma – dietetics, Rasayana, rejuvenation & follow-up care
  • Complications, contraindications & safety in Panchakarma

Module 3: External Therapies (Bahya Chikitsa)

  • Abhyanga – types, indications, techniques
  • Shirodhara, Shiroabhyanga, Shirobasti
  • Kati Basti, Janu Basti, Greeva Basti, Uro Basti
  • Swedana techniques – Patra Pinda Sweda, Navarakizhi, Jambeera Pinda Sweda, Pizhichil
  • Udwarthana (herbal powder massage) and Lepana (herbal paste applications)
  • Pichu, Kaval, Gandusha (oral therapies)

Module 4: Specialized Ayurvedic Therapies

  • Marma Chikitsa – vital points, mapping, therapeutic applications
  • Agnikarma – principles, methods, indications
  • Ksharakarma – procedures and clinical uses
  • Raktamokshana - Blood letting through jaloka , sira , cupping and modern parallels
  • Ayurvedic pain management protocols
  • Stress management therapies – Ayurveda, Yoga, Pranayama, meditation

Module 5: Clinical Applications of Ayurvedic Therapies

  • Musculoskeletal disorders – arthritis, spondylosis, sports injuries
  • Neurological disorders – stroke rehab, neuropathies, migraine, Parkinson’s
  • Metabolic & lifestyle disorders – obesity, diabetes, hypertension
  • Skin & cosmetic applications – psoriasis, eczema, acne, anti-aging therapies
  • Geriatric and pediatric applications of therapies
  • Integrative and preventive healthcare with Ayurveda

Module 6: Research and Evidence-Based Practice

  • Basics of research methodology in Ayurveda
  • Designing case studies and clinical trials
  • Documentation and outcome assessment in therapies
  • Critical review of global research in Panchakarma and Ayurvedic therapies
  • Dissertation / project work

Eligibility:

Graduates in any discipline are eligible for our Post Graduate Diploma, Executive Diploma and Professional Certification Programmes.

Programme Duration

Minimum duration to complete this programme is 1 Year.

Programme Mode

Registrations are currently open for regular and Part-time (Online Live Classes) both modes.

Programme Deliverables

A comprehensive study material for all the modules in hard copies ensuring the needs of the audience. The accompanying training material is appropriately aligned with the current Industry’s expectations.

  • Assignments for all the programme modules for continuous evaluation and guidance.
  • Interactive or online live sessions on all key areas of the programme giving all flexibility to the participants.
  • Online classes for all the modules will be conducted on the weekends. Moreover, a doubt clearing session will also be scheduled before the examination.
  • All the efforts are made by IGMPI faculty members to make the entire programme modules easily understandable.
  • Assessment and evaluation for all the programme modules in order to enhance the levels of competencies and skills of the participants leading towards the objective of application in the job.
  • At the end of each programme modules, the trainers shall obtain feedback from the participants using specially designed questionnaires.
  • All learning and training delivery initiatives shall be conducted in English.

Examination & Certification

Centre of Health Management & Research follows a credit system based on all learning activities involved in studying for all PG Diploma, Executive Diploma and Certificate Programmes. Each of your modules is equal to 4 credits. To successfully complete the programme, you will have to earn all the credits assigned to your programme.

All the participants are expected to appear for an online exam and are also obliged to submit assignments after each module. After successful completion, the participants will be awarded with PG Diploma in Ayurvedic Therapies by IGMPI. For all the above-mentioned modules, Online Classes (Online mode) or face-to-face classes (Regular mode), elaborate programme material, self-assessment assignments would be provided by the Institute.
