The Programme in Travel and Tourism Consultancy envisages the overall professional aspects of the travel and tourism industry. It equips participants with essential knowledge and skills to function as specialized travel consultants capable of independently handling travel planning, customer advisory, and operational responsibilities with an international perspective.

The programme is designed for freshers and professionals who wish to pursue Travel and Tourism Consultancy as a career choice and aims to prepare them for industry-relevant roles across travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, and online travel platforms. 

Programme Structure

Module 1: The World of Travel and Tourism

Concept, scope, and evolution of the travel and tourism industry, global tourism systems and interrelationships, role and responsibilities of a travel and tourism consultant, structure of the travel value chain, and emerging trends in global tourism markets. 

Module 2: Global Destinations and Destination Knowledge

World tourism regions and major destinations, climatic and cultural considerations in destination planning, seasonality and travel patterns, destination suitability analysis for different traveller segments, and emerging global destinations.

Module 3: International Tourist Destinations and Travel Circuits

International tourism circuits across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Americas, and Africa, destination accessibility and connectivity, travel formalities overview, and design of multi-country and regional travel itineraries. 

Module 4: Visitor Attractions and Experience Design

Types of visitor attractions (natural, cultural, heritage, entertainment-based), role of attractions in destination appeal, managing visitor experiences, attraction capacity considerations, and integrating attractions into tour packages. 

Module 5: Managing Accommodation Services

Types of accommodation establishments, classification and service standards, room categories and meal plans, matching accommodation to customer preferences and budgets, and handling accommodation-related customer issues. 

Module 6: The Airport Experience and Air Travel Operations

Airport infrastructure and passenger flow, airline service concepts and travel classes, check-in, security, immigration and boarding processes, baggage handling, and managing disruptions such as delays and cancellations. 

Module 7: Managing the Customer Experience in Travel and Tourism

Customer journey mapping, managing customer expectations, service quality frameworks, complaint handling and service recovery, customer retention strategies, and building long-term client relationships.

Module 8: Travel and Tourism Enterprises

Types of travel and tourism enterprises including travel agencies, online travel agencies (OTAs), tour operators and destination management companies, business models and revenue streams, supplier relationships, and the consultant’s role within travel organizations.

 Module 9: Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism

Consumer behaviour in travel and tourism, travel product development and branding, pricing and promotional strategies, digital marketing and social media applications, and sales techniques for travel consultants. 

Module 10: Researching Current Travel Trends and Key Issues

Analysis of global travel trends, sustainability and responsible tourism, impact of technology and digital transformation, geopolitical and health-related influences on travel, and using market research to support consultancy decisions.

Module 11: Travel Risk, Safety and Ethical Practices

Travel risk identification and mitigation, travel insurance advisory, health and safety considerations, ethical issues in tourism consulting, responsible tourism practices, and legal responsibilities of travel consultants. 

Module 12: Working Overseas – Professional and Cultural Readiness

Overseas employment opportunities in travel and tourism, cross-cultural communication skills, professional conduct and workplace ethics, international work environments, and compliance considerations. 

Module 13: Work Experience, Recruitment and Selection

Recruitment processes in the travel and tourism industry, CV preparation and interview skills, professional grooming and etiquette, employability skills, and structured internship or work-experience planning.

Eligibility

Graduates in any discipline are eligible for our Post Graduate Diploma, Executive Diploma and Professional Certification Programmes.

Programme Duration

The minimum duration to complete the PG diploma programme is 12 months and maximum is 24 months. The minimum duration to complete the executive diploma programme is 6 months and maximum is 12 months.

Programme Mode

Registrations are currently open for regular and Part-time (Online Live Classes) both modes.

Examination and Certification

All the participants are obliged to timely submit completed assessment assignments (during the programme, usually after every module) and appear for an online exam at the end of the programme. After successful completion, the participants will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma/Executive Diploma in Travel and Tourism Consultant by Centre for Hospitality and Hotel Management (CHHM), IGMPI. For all the above mentioned modules elaborate programme material, self-assessment assignments and project work details would be provided by the Institute from time to time. Discipline in Classes and Examination

Every student is required to observe a disciplined behaviour during her/his classes, assessments & examinations and to follow instructions from the Professors. Any act of indiscipline may result into discredit & it will be mentioned in her/his academic report.

The Institute has partnered with many organizations for providing placement assistance to its participants. The robust placement cell comprises of senior level Human Resources professionals and Talent Acquisition experts which maintains close links with business and industry. We are engaged in promoting the employability of our participants by maintaining good rapport and relation with HR cell and recruiting managers of leading Travel and Toursim companies across the globe. The efforts of our placement cell also include helping with professional resume writing, interview skills & conducting mock interviews etc.

The Travel and Tourism Consultancy programme is a professional programme targeted to cater to the travel and tourism industry’s need for trained and skilled travel consultants. The knowledge, guidance, practical exposure, and programme completion certificate will provide the participant with not one but many opportunities in the industry. This may be realized in the form of job roles and positions such as Travel Consultants, Tour Operations Executives, Corporate Travel Executives, Airline Sales or Ground Operations Staff, Destination Management Executives, Customer Relationship Executives, Travel Sales and Marketing Professionals, and Independent Travel Consultants, among others.
