ZOLL has introduced its next-generation LifeVest wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) in the US, marking the fifth iteration of the FDA-approved device. The new WCD is compatible with the recently released LifeVest garment, designed to support daily activities with lightweight fabric, flat-lock stitching, plush straps, and sizes for chest measurements from 26 to 56 inches.
The device provides effective therapy for patients at risk of sudden cardiac death, with real-world data and peer-reviewed studies highlighting high patient compliance. Recent LifeVest versions feature integrated response buttons and a touchscreen, allowing conscious patients to delay unnecessary shocks and interact directly with the system without a separate smartphone-type device.
ZOLL reports growing adoption among clinicians and patients, supported by clinical evidence for WCD use in newly diagnosed heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction.
