Mpower, an initiative of the Aditya Birla Education Trust, has released a five-year review of its helpline, counselling, and youth outreach programmes, revealing a steady rise in mental health challenges among Indian men. The analysis shows that more men are seeking help than ever, particularly young adults and working-age groups, yet emotional strain continues to intensify.
Across all services, Mpower engaged an estimated 2.83 lakh men, with youth-focused initiatives reaching over 2,07,350 young men through screenings, campus programmes, and community outreach. Among working-age men, the 24×7 helpline recorded 75,702 callers between 2022–2025, with 16,698 cases linked to stress, depression, and relationship issues. Notably, 40% reported reduced stress after a single call.
Urban and semi-urban areas, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Goa, and Hyderabad, accounted for the highest engagement. Common challenges include stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and coping difficulties, highlighting the need for early support and culturally sensitive mental health interventions for men.
