Strengthening Regional Healthcare: A Priority for India’s Future

India urgently needs robust regional healthcare systems as non-communicable diseases, climate-linked infections, and lifestyle disorders spread beyond major cities, says, Paras Health. Tier-2 regions now require reliable access to advanced diagnostics, specialist treatment, and critical care locally. Aggarwal notes that when such services are available closer to home, patients seek care earlier, adhere better to treatment, and feel more confident managing their health. Preventive and technology-enabled care—such as digital diagnostics, remote monitoring, and integrated care pathways—has become vital for early detection and structured treatment.

Echoing this, Padma Shri Dr. Harsh Mahajan of Mahajan Imaging & Labs highlights the central role of diagnostics, which inform nearly 70% of clinical decisions. Despite progress, many non-communicable diseases are still detected late. Greater use of AI in diagnostics is improving efficiency and consistency while supporting, not replacing, clinical judgment. Both leaders stress that integrating advanced diagnostics into preventive care, alongside clinical expertise and empathy, is essential for a resilient, future-ready healthcare system.
