Vitsab Introduces Freshtag to Strengthen Cold-Chain Food Safety

Swedish food safety technology company Vitsab International AB has launched Freshtag, a smart time–temperature monitoring label designed to safeguard the quality of perishable foods during storage and transit. The device uses an intuitive “Stoplight Technology”, shifting from green to yellow and red if products are exposed to unsafe temperatures, allowing instant visual checks without specialised equipment.

Easy to deploy and cost-effective, Freshtag integrates smoothly with existing food safety systems and works across chilled, frozen and passive environments. It complies with global standards including FDA, EU regulations, HACCP and ISO norms, supporting regulatory adherence. By tracking cumulative temperature exposure, the device helps businesses reduce spoilage, limit returns and improve decision-making. Industry observers say Freshtag could significantly enhance transparency and trust across global cold-chain logistics.
