Eating vitamin C-rich foods can significantly improve skin health

Researchers at the University of Otago found that vitamin C from the diet travels through the bloodstream into all layers of the skin, enhancing collagen production and skin renewal. In a study of 24 healthy adults in New Zealand and Germany, participants who consumed two SunGold™ kiwi fruits daily for eight weeks showed higher vitamin C levels in their skin, thicker skin, and faster epidermal regeneration. Lead author Professor Margreet Vissers noted a strong correlation between blood and skin vitamin C, stronger than in any other organ. Unlike topical creams, dietary vitamin C is efficiently absorbed by skin cells, supporting internal skin health. The study highlights that glowing, resilient skin starts from within, emphasizing the importance of nutrition over external treatments.
