Cybersecurity experts are warning about the increasing use of deepfake technology in social engineering attacks. In recent cases, attackers have used AI-generated voice and video clips to impersonate company executives or trusted individuals in order to trick employees into transferring funds or sharing confidential information.
These attacks are particularly dangerous because they exploit human trust rather than technical vulnerabilities. As deepfake technology becomes more advanced and accessible, distinguishing between real and fake communications is becoming increasingly difficult. Organizations are being encouraged to implement strict verification procedures for sensitive requests, such as financial transactions, and to educate employees about the risks associated with deepfake scams.
