Security Researchers Discover Vulnerabilities in Popular IoT Devices

A team of cybersecurity researchers has revealed multiple security weaknesses in several widely used Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, including smart cameras and home automation hubs. The vulnerabilities could allow attackers to remotely access devices, intercept video feeds, or manipulate device settings without authorization.

Although these devices are designed to improve convenience and connectivity in homes and workplaces, many of them still suffer from weak security mechanisms such as default passwords, outdated firmware, and insecure communication protocols. Researchers warn that compromised IoT devices can also be recruited into botnets used to launch large-scale distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Manufacturers have begun releasing firmware updates to address the vulnerabilities, but security experts emphasize that consumers must also take responsibility by changing default credentials and applying updates regularly.
