The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health has introduced a new initiative, Delphi, aimed at developing advanced biosensors capable of tracking multiple biological signals such as inflammation markers, hormones, and drug levels. The program is part of a broader push by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand the role of wearable health technologies.
Delphi will leverage modular “chiplet” technology, allowing developers to mix and match components across wearable and ingestible devices, similar to building blocks. This approach is intended to overcome current limitations of wearables, which typically track only basic metrics like heart rate or temperature.
The program will run for four and a half years, progressing from prototype development to system integration and clinical testing. With milestone-based funding potentially reaching up to $150 million, the initiative aims to accelerate innovation and enable more personalized, real-time health monitoring solutions.
