Monteris and Symphony Robotics Collaborate to Enhance MRI-Guided Brain Tumour Treatment

Monteris Medical has partnered with Symphony Robotics to advance precision in laser ablation for complex brain tumours. The collaboration will integrate Monteris’ laser energy delivery system with Symphony’s AI-powered micro-robotic arm. Notably, Symphony’s arm can function within an MRI bore without requiring an engine, navigating delicate brain structures through a 5mm opening. This allows for non-linear laser probe paths and real-time motion planning guided by MRI imaging.

The combined technology aims to improve surgical access and treatment outcomes for challenging conditions, including glioblastoma, neurofibromatosis-related lesions, and epilepsy-associated targets. By enhancing flexibility in anatomically complex areas, the partnership extends the capabilities of Monteris’ NeuroBlate platform.

In May last year, Monteris launched its NeuroBlate NB3 FullFire 1.6mm laser probe, a robotic-enabled laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) system designed to optimize precision and control during neurosurgical procedures.
