Philips collaborates with Nvidia to build AI model for MRI

Philips has partnered with Nvidia to develop a foundational AI model tailored specifically for MRI. Leveraging Nvidia’s existing Vista-3D and Maisi models for 3D imaging and synthetic image generation, the collaboration aims to overcome MRI-specific challenges such as scan planning, image quality, and diagnostic accuracy. The model will be trained on large datasets and support applications like zero-click scan planning, workflow acceleration, and interactive image enhancement. Radiologists could preview scans and adjust parameters in real time, while the AI would automate image interpretation. This project aligns with Nvidia’s “digital devices” strategy in healthcare, which includes partnerships in imaging, surgical robotics, and diagnostics. Philips, already integrating AI into its imaging systems, recently launched an enhanced version of its Blueseal MRI, claiming up to 65% higher resolution or triple scan speed using AI. The partnership underscores the growing role of foundation models in transforming diagnostic imaging through scalable, intelligent software platforms.
