Philips announced plans to invest over $150 million to strengthen its U.S. manufacturing of AI-enabled technologies, with a major focus on ultrasound systems. The investment will expand the company’s Reedsville, Pennsylvania facility, adding 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 40,000 square feet of warehouse capacity.
The Reedsville site currently produces ultrasound transducers, the handheld probes that generate imaging through sound waves. Following the expansion, the facility will also support software customization and system configuration for specialized procedures, including platforms designed for diagnosing structural heart and coronary artery disease.
Philips expects the expansion to generate 120 new manufacturing jobs. The company is banking on continued growth in its ultrasound business in the second half of the year, while also optimizing its broader manufacturing footprint.
This follows Philips’ 2024 announcement to expand its image-guided therapy facility in Plymouth, Minnesota, a project set to create 150 jobs.
