Philips Launches Child-Friendly Snuggle MRI Coil Developed by InkSpace Imaging

Philips has introduced the Snuggle flexible paediatric body array coil, developed by InkSpace Imaging, for use with its 3.0T MRI systems.

Designed specifically for children, the Snuggle coil replaces traditional rigid coils with a soft, blanket-like structure that gently wraps around young patients. Its lightweight, flexible design aims to reduce anxiety while improving positioning and ease of handling for clinicians.

Despite its comfort-focused design, the coil incorporates a high-density array to deliver high-resolution imaging across diverse paediatric anatomies. This may help minimise repeat scans and shorten examination times, supporting more efficient workflows.

The device recently received US clearance via the FDA’s 510(k) pathway. Initially available in the United States, broader international rollout is under consideration.

The launch builds on Philips’ recent MRI innovations, including the helium-free BlueSeal Horizon 3.0T platform unveiled at RSNA 2025, reinforcing the company’s focus on patient-centred imaging solutions.
