Shriya Saran Launches Fortified Multigrain Atta ‘Minar’ to Tackle Malnutrition

Shriya Saran introduced ‘Minar’, India’s first fortified protein-plus multigrain atta, aimed at addressing rising malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies. The launch was attended by Sanjay Thumma, Avnish Kumar of the Retailers Association of India, Aditya Bansal of Sree Sai Roller Flour Mills, V Sesikeran, and Monojit Indra from TechnoServe.

The product blends Sharbati wheat with soy, maize, and chana, delivering up to 50% more protein than regular flour. Three rotis made from it can provide nearly one-third of an adult’s daily protein requirement. It is also fortified with iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, zinc, and vitamin A to address hidden hunger.

Experts highlighted food fortification as a scalable solution to micronutrient deficiencies, supported by initiatives from Food Safety and Standards Authority of India such as the Eat Right India movement.
