Industry Study Explores Where AI Really Helps Inside The SOC

Security practitioners and former analysts have been collaborating on a “state of AI in the SOC” study that separates realistic AI-assisted workflows from the hype, focusing on how tools perform when embedded in day-to-day monitoring, investigation, and incident response. Early results suggest that AI brings clear value in summarising long alert trails, mapping relationships between entities, and suggesting next investigative steps, while its impact on fully autonomous decision-making remains more limited and requires tight human oversight. The project also examines how emerging techniques like data security posture management (DSPM) and modern DLP can be combined with AI analytics to track the flow of sensitive information across cloud services and generative tools, giving teams a practical framework for reducing data-leak risks as new AI-powered workflows roll out.
