Justice Dept. Exposes Insider Threats Within Security Community
In a rare and troubling development, two former cybersecurity experts in the United States pleaded guilty to conspiring with the notorious ALPHV Blackcat ransomware gang to aid in encrypting victims’ networks and demanding cryptocurrency ransoms. Both defendants, previously employed by respected cyber firms, now face up to 20 years in prison, underscoring that insider threats remain a critical challenge for cyber defence and organisational trust.
