Threat Intelligence Labs Refine Methods For Measuring Global Attack Pressure

New threat intelligence reports released in mid-December highlight ongoing research into how to quantify global attack activity, with one study noting that organisations are now facing an average of around two thousand attempted attacks per week, up from previous months. Analysts are experimenting with richer metrics that combine raw attack counts, sector-specific targeting, and exploit sophistication so security teams can distinguish normal background noise from genuinely abnormal spikes that warrant additional defensive measures. This work is feeding into the design of dashboards and early-warning systems that summarise changes in the threat landscape in language business leaders can understand, helping them decide when to accelerate patching, adjust SOC staffing, or temporarily raise internal alert levels.
