The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the food business licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. following an inspection that found multiple food safety and hygiene deficiencies at its premises in Delhi’s Rohini area.
The action followed a surprise inspection of the kitchens associated with Hotel Seven Seas, which provides hotel, banquet and catering services. According to the findings recorded by food safety officials, inspectors discovered fungus-affected vegetables, rotten capsicums and heavily blackened cooking oil. The premises also had problems related to sanitation and general housekeeping.
The inspection report highlighted water stagnation, foul odour and inadequate cleanliness in food preparation areas. Inspectors also found that vegetarian and meat products were not properly separated, while some meat was stored incorrectly. Condensation from cold-storage units was reportedly falling onto food.
Pest-related problems were another concern. Cockroaches and house flies were observed on the premises, while inadequate ventilation and lighting were also noted. Officials reported leaking refrigeration equipment and damaged plaster inside the facility. The inspection further identified deficiencies in sanitation records and water-testing documentation.
The establishment received a compliance score of 30 per cent, which falls under the regulator’s non-compliance category. FSSAI subsequently ordered Seven Seas Hospitality to stop all food business activities while the suspension remains in effect. Approximately 74 kg or litres of food that did not meet the required standards was destroyed during the inspection.
FSSAI officials said the inspection formed part of the authority’s routine surprise raids and audits. The suspension is not equivalent to permanent closure, and the regulatory notice did not specify how long it would remain in force or the conditions required for restoration of the licence.
