Raw Farm Recalls Cheddar Cheese Amid E. coli Outbreak

Raw Farm LLC has issued a recall of its raw milk cheddar cheese following a multi-state outbreak of Escherichia coli O157

Health authorities, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that seven of nine infected individuals had consumed the cheese before falling ill. Cases were reported across California, Texas, and Florida, with more than half involving children under five.

The outbreak has led to three hospitalisations, with one case of Hemolytic uremic syndrome, a severe condition that can cause kidney failure.

Although the company stated no pathogens were detected in its products, officials warn that contaminated batches may no longer be on the market. Consumers are advised to avoid raw milk cheeses, which are not pasteurised and carry a higher risk of bacterial contamination.
