US Issues Health Alert for Chicken Nuggets Over Lead Contamination

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets sold at Walmart due to potentially unsafe levels of lead.

The affected product is 29-oz bags of “Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets,” with a best-before date of February 10, 2027, lot code 0416DPO1215, and establishment number P44164. While a recall was not initiated as the product is no longer in stores, officials warn it may still be in consumers’ freezers.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the detected lead levels could be up to five times higher than the recommended limit for children, posing serious health risks.

Lead exposure is especially harmful to young children and pregnant women, potentially affecting brain development and causing long-term complications. Consumers are advised to discard or return the product immediately.
